bookshelves: ya-crossover, dystopia, american-fiction

A dystopian novel cleverly set in the immediate future - seems eerily plausible (replace "the slowing" with our very real threat of the eventual consequences of global warming and it's not much of a leap). The initial denial, the quick adaptation to ever changing circumstances, the splitting up into factions - all very hauntingly realistic depictions of human foibles by this very talented first-time author. Already a lot of buzz around this book - a lot of it probably due to its high relevance to the wide-spread fear of environmental collapse.
