*** ORIGINAL REVIEW: FEBRUARY 2012 ***

a FABULOUS introduction to the work of Cara McKenna. this very unconventional (for me, anyway) novella starts out as erotica but then tips the scales toward romance by the end (not to get spoilery). mckenna's characters are quite varied, individually fully formed, and perfectly believable. and their interactions are similarly credible and also, bonus, gripping and hott.

this is a wonderful examination of chance encounter and ensuing organic character development; the wanna-be writer in me sort of spazzes about this. such a tight, well-paced, engaging short.

reader, note that this is an unconventional romance, featuring decidedly nonvanilla but entirely consensual role play. stay away if that gives you a sad.
