liked it

I listened to the audio book, read by the author. The thing about Bill Maher is that although I probably agree with him 95% of the time, he's such a condescending jerk that I find it impossible to like him. He has funny writers for his show (I love Adam Felber, frequent guest of NPR's "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me"), and I believe he's on the correct side of most political arguments. But finding him so unlikable made it difficult to listen to five hours of his ranting. He may be more hard-hitting and progressive than the more popular left-wing funnymen Stewart and Colbert, but they both seem like the kind of people you'd want to know in real life. Maher strikes me as someone I'd avoid at all costs at a social gathering. Perhaps that's not a fair means of critiquing his book, but there you have it.
