I've heard so much about this book that I've ordered it from the US - for some reason it is not available in the UK. Then I've read first chapter and I was pumped. I mean, WWII from perspective of proto-sentient, ur-internet that was Europe-wide telephone network. All right, I thought. But then it settled into tedious series of stories. Sure, the switching perspective between Russian and German narrators is cute, but the structure is fairly linear and book is overly researched. For a while all this erudition is fascinating, but after a while it loses its allure...
