it was ok
bookshelves: abandoned

Meh. I added this to my list because of a good review in Library Journal. The story sounds like it would be pretty good, but it takes forever to get going. The style left me frequently briefly confused, as it jumped around in time without any sign or warning. Also, I kept trying to fit the mythological elements into what I know of Norse mythology, and couldn't. I found that I didn't really care enough about the characters to keep going. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance, but I have so many other books to read that I don't want to waste time reading things that don't capture my interest. I did read the ending, and it seemed to leave matters hanging. I see that it is the first book of a planned series. I would bet that readers who like sweeping, mythological/technological stories would like this.
