Wells does an excellent job of taking us into the confused mind of a schizophrenic and spinning that into a horror thriller that justifies the use of a mentally ill protagonist. If you like the John Cleaver books without reservation then you'll like The Hollow City.

Wm Full disclosure: I edited Dan Wells' contribution to the anthology Monsters & Mormons. That may make me slightly more predisposed to liking his work, but really it's more that he and I share a dark sensibility with a love of genre mixing and poetic prose.

Ruth I'm pretty much with you on Dan. He's not the best writer out there, but I consistently like his stuff and find it interesting.

Ruth Oh, and I'm slightly predisposed to liking his work because I sort of knew him in college, the same time I knew Brandon Sanderson and another writer whose work comes out next year, Janci Patterson.
