it was amazing
bookshelves: fun, fan, fantasy
Read from August 06 to 15, 2012

Comical sounding Wanda Sykes (Over the Hedge, Ice Age) and Shrek animated series Mike Meyers, Eddie Murphy (Donkey), Antonio Banderas (Puss) are more to my liking, but Scarry-style cutesy animals in people outfits and jobs are appealing. Captures major scenes, without phony squeaky condescending tones of TV voices. Slight discrepancies, fourth sore throat in video vs third in book, omitted lines, all minor.

Antiquated old town feel: outside hand-push lawn mower, well pump; inside radiator heating, windows that open to air, blinds with finger-loop pull, wooden furniture with round drawer pulls; males in hats, ties, vests, suspenders; females in dresses, hats, tunics (jumpers not Brit sweaters). Doctor makes house call; hospital has single rooms only. Leader opening credits for every show

1 Camping Out writer S.M. Molitor, storyboard Teruyo Watanabe Full
Huckle (cat boy) camps out with best pal Lowly (worm boy) in family back yard until a lawn fork shadow looks like a monster ghost claw.

2 A Big Operation writer Molitor, storyboard Luc Savoie Drawing Full Includes Leader
Huckle has to chat with other patients before staying in hospital for tonsil removal.

3 The Treasure Hunt by Morton Ritts, Fern Miller, Molitor, storyboard Savoie Full
Huckle and Lowly dress as pirates, dig for treasure. Mr Fixit fox adds beach junk to wagon to look like ship. Snack stand owner Bruno bear gives them ice cream for picking up trash to recycle. Recycle means show is newer than happy town setting.

4 The Snowstorm by Ritts, Miller, Molitor, storyboard Andre St-Amour Full
Miss Honey bear teacher reassures playground monitor huge hippo Hilda, discouraged until her clumsy strength pulls school bus out of ditch.

5 Mr Frumble's New Cars by Cliff MacGillivray, storyboard Savoie
Accident-prone pig Mr Frumble gets in driver seat of next handy vehicle and crashes, from bulldozer to airplane, even Sgt Murphy dog's police motorcycle.

Adapted from TV "The Busy World of Richard Scarry" based on books by Richard Scarry, with various writers and storyboard artists. Prefaced by a Busytown map from airport to sea fort, 12 highlights numbered (error: two #5, no #3). Computer game 5* for now to remind me to find original Scarry.
