I have never read a book before categorized as a “romance novel.” But I read this by accident since it was free Kindle book. Laurie Kellogg wrote a steamy book about a POW who develops anemia while a prisoner in North Vietnam. He was declared dead during the war but once released went back home to his wife whom he had married a few weeks before going to Vietnam. This is the story about their reconciliation. Even though this subject matter isn’t new in fiction and movies, the plot kept my attention. Parts of the book dragged on but I couldn’t wait to read about the development of their relationship. I always had the impression that romance novels were about “perfect men” and included explicit scenes and this certainly lived up to my predisposed ideas. This is a “no thinker” summer beach book.
