I'm not a huge fantasy fan...but I think that part of the reason why I so enjoyed Wings is because it reads so much like contemporary fiction. There's something really powerful about Laurel's journey and her emotions...her confusion, her fear, her conflicted world.

Of course, because of what I do, I always read the romance as the central arc of the story...and here is a well-crafted love triangle, which isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world to achieve. David and Tamani are readers, we feel as Laurel does...we love David for his strength and his honesty, but we're drawn mysteriously to Tamani--for reasons we can't really explain. The best romances are those where the reader feels exactly as the heroine does, and Aprilynne has done that incredibly well here.

I'm so looking forward to SPELLS!
