A snappy little title that was free from Amazon, Black Oil Red Blood is an entertaining read about a small Texas town whose residents live in the shadow of PetroPlex, a giant oil company that has been deliberately flouting safety rules and putting their employees and the citizens of Kettle at risk for years.

Enter Chloe Taylor, an up and coming hotshot lawyer who is determined to bring PetroPlex down. Unfortunately, a few things stand in her way, such as the murder of her expert witness, her widowed client runs off, and all the law enforcement in town are crooked beyond belief, with the exception of one Detective Nash, who seems determine to thwart her efforts to do right.

Chloe has one week to find a new expert witness and sort through 40 boxes of files, which, unfortunately, are part of a crime scene. She tries to sweet talk the new detective in town, but he won't have any of it. She ends up breaking in to the crime scene to get the information she needs for her trial, but of course, she gets caught.

As Chloe and the good detective get dragged further and further into this mess, they discover that PetroPlex is harboring a terrible secret that could result in world chaos and destruction on a global scale. Chloe and Detective Nash, along with her trusty paralegal Myles and her dog Lucy, embark on a race to save their lives.

Black Oil, Red Blood is a great summer read with lots of action and romance!
