Ok...say it with me now "OMG it's Highlander in YA!"
Thank you Talia Vance for this refreshing addition to the genre. Readers will delight in this coming of age story shrouded in the mists of Celtic legend.

Though the first 28% of the book is spent following Brianna around in the "this can't be happening" and "there is something really freaky about me but I have no idea what it could be" circles; the pay-off is well worth it. Once she has her rather steamy "aha moment" with the hunky Blake, all bets are off.
As it turns out Brianna is the descendant of a killer goddess and her target and her powers have but one aim. Destroy the one that destiny and a soul bond has doomed her to love most.

You guessed it!
Blake...

Blake is far from the hapless victim that he appears at first glance. In fact his family tree is just as lethal as Brianna's.
He is one of the legendary Sons of Killian, the kilt wearing, blade wielding, bad boys sworn to protect humanity from the killer wiles of Danu and her ilk.

A.k.a
Brianna

Love really is a battlefield and there are times in this book when it is hard for both the actor and the audience to tell exactly who the bad guys are. There is so much action, tension, and magic however, that it is easy to forgive the musical chairs in character direction.
There are quite a few unexpected twists and turns that bring things into focus toward the story's end.
This was a wonderful start to a series that promises to be a treasure trove of literary goodness.

*Just a note*
This book is classified as New Adult for the purposes of this review, due to the older ages of the characters and higher levels and more explicit nature of it's sexual content.
