Kelly is a SEAL widow. Her husband, Nick, died on a "training mission" three years ago. Since then, Joe, Nick's best friend, has become her protector and best friend. Just as Kelly decides it might be time to start dating again--particularly dating Joe--things begin to happen which force her to decide whether the risk of being a military widow is worth the chance at love with her best friend. Joe puts his life at risk on a regular basis, but when an international criminal brings Kelly into the middle of a dangerous weapons deal, Kelly's life is the one at risk. As she puts her faith in God and Joe to save her, both Kelly and Joe must fight to put the past behind them.

Dee Henderson takes the reader on a journey to a few SEAL missions that are both exciting and suspenseful and add an adventurous touch to the sweetness of the love story. Joe (aka "Bear") is a true military leader, and the men in his command have the utmost respect for him. Kelly gets to see a different side of his character, and the two halves combine to form a perfect male lead. He is strong and protective, but he's also respectful and patient. Joe and Kelly have a complicated relationship, but their solid foundation sends a message of hope to readers who may be facing their own seemingly insurmountable obstacles. The message of hope is woven throughout the story in an easy, effortless style which avoids being "preachy" or awkward. A very enjoyable read!
