Madeleine Albright's personal and affecting account of growing up in Europe during World War II. Prague Winter is beautifully written and researched, alternating a history of the war as it affected the Czechs with her own family's narrative of struggle, oppression, and loss. I have a renewed appreciation for Albright after this account of growing up in wartime Prague and London.
