I haven't been to New Orleans, so I can't speak to whether or not this is an accurate portrayal of the place, but I can say that this made me want to go there. New Orleans is far and away the most engaging character in this collection of stories from and about people whose lives run the gamut from crime to established wealth and everything in between. This is some of the best nonfiction I've ever read--highly recommended.
