While this book is not particularly literary, I have loved enough animals to feel convinced of its truths as a reader. Not only do these guys do speak with an authentic voice; Gracie is special. It's a cute story, and one that tugs at your heart strings. My daughter just unexpectedly lost her gentle, gorgeous standard poodle, whose personally reminded me so much of Gracie. Some dogs are pets, others seem to have a nobility and otherworldly character that seems to categorize them as a "old-soul. If you enjoy animal stories, or if you want to be reminded about why need pets, you might want to read this one.
