I think I actually liked this one more than the first of the series. Probably because it's more up my alley than the first book, with the whole murder mystery thing. I enjoy a good suspense All the twist and turns in the plot kept me reading. The magic brought a interesting aspect to the book.
I thought Jude was more subdued in this book. While still sassy, witty, and kick she was more authorial and parental. I kinda liked her no nonsense attitude. Her personal life is still in chaos and spiraling down.
I found all the romance floating around nice, as a diversion from the murder in helped balance the book in my opinion. Yet Ms Pruitt seemed to know how to weave all this into the plot. Which made it even more engaging. Oh and the bombshell ending had me scrambling to get book three out and reading...
