This made me go back and re-read The Last Werewolf. The only thing I DON'T like about these books is the casual way the characters eat innocents. Not an awful lot of soul-searching there, which is one of the basics of a good werewolf story--the way the hero/heroine struggles with the beastly part of his/her nature. Duncan's explanation is more or less, "The Devil/wolf makes me do it." These werewolfs just give up and roll with it, which makes them hard to love. Whatever happened to free will? A character who chooses his/her own existence over hundreds or thousands of others is pretty hard to care about.
