** spoiler alert ** Really amazing and powerful book with a touching story of pain, fear, sadness, tragedy, and most importantly strength.

Sara lives with her abusive father and weak mother. Her brother Matt has recently committed suicide, her father's abuse to escalate to an all time high. Sara's mother finally gains the courage to make a plan for her and Sara to escape her father, but Sara's father finds out about the escape plan and kidnaps Sara's mother before she has a chance to put the plan into action. This leave Sara extremely worried about the whereabouts of her mother & also leaves her alone with her increasingly abusive father, who seems to be suffering from a slight bit of insanity and refuses to believe or accept the fact that his son Matt is gone. With the help of a few friends Sara manages to survive this dreadful situation. Sara's dad eventually takes Sara & her best friend Zach, who he believes in Sara's dead brother Matt, up to their traditional family vacation spot where he has been holding Sara's mother captive. With the help of Zach and another friend Alex, Sara is able to free her mother & is forced to kill her father in a life or death battle.

A truly moving story which showcases Sara's and her mother's strength and bravery in an incredibly tough situation. This story keeps you hooked with the mystery aspect of 'what happened to Sara's mom?' you simply cannot wait to find out.
