I'm not entirely sure how to critique a novel that's primary function is to serve as a sort of parody for the times. Austen served her purpose though, the storyline poked fun at what it was supposed to and aired the sentiments it should have. It's at the bottom of the barrel though, down there with Sense and Sensibility. The writing style was poor, the characters monotonous and droll, and the stereotyping was so heavy handed that the novel lacked any subtlety whatsoever. The throwing together of Catherine and Henry at the end was fumbled and badly done, and in general, the novel failed to impress.

This being said, at the age Austen was when it was written, she did a good job overall in creating for most, an enjoyable and humorous read.
