A meticulously researched book. Solomon, who suffers from depression himself, gives an almost sociological overview of depression. He discusses its history, treatments, socio-economic components, stigma, and current research while telling his story and those of the people he's met while writing this book. It's no short read, but it's absolutely worth the effort for those suffering from this illness and/or their loved ones.
