I wanted to like this more than I did. The author put a lot of thought into creating his post-climate-change world, and the way politics would be affected, and how people would live their everyday lives, and that was all pretty interesting. The plot itself was mostly an action run-around, fairly entertaining for the first 2/3, but then the real villain is revealed, and we get lots of inspirational speeches about the wonders of democracy versus well-meaning tyranny, and I felt like I was reading a Mother Jones article (which I do frequently, but I prefer my fiction to be a little less preachy). Also, the characterization was all fairly shallow, and the main character was unbelievably slow to catch on to her trouble in the beginning and annoyingly self-righteous later on.
