I was really, really hesitant to read this, after reading the Perfect Husband. I really had a hard time reading the Perfect Husband. Part of that was the fact that I couldn't connect or sympathize with the lead characters. Its much easier to do that in this book. What complicated story. It really had me fooled.
I much say though, even only have read two of Lisa Gardner's books, I think she seems to have a bit of a dark, unsettling aspect that I don't think I'm comfortable with. An abusive, serial killer husband (The Perfect Husband); pedophile (this book). The perfect husband was more graphic than this book, which was a relief to me.
Not sure if I'll seek out another by this author. A bit too much for me on the whole, I think. I guess it would depend on the story.
