Very strange and interesting premise. It has been a LOOOOOOOOONG time since I've read a gothic, and while it's not a genre or category I'm especially interested in, this one was enjoyable. It hit all the "gothic" sweet spots: a governess, a dead mother, a primarily absentee father, shady business afoot and a creepy house, with a spooky mystery to boot. There were elements that I wouldn't quite call paranormal (at least not in the 'vamp'/'were'/'shifter' group of paranormal, anyway) but that were Other - kind of Neil Gaimanesque.
It was as quick read, but I enjoyed it. I would definitely try another by Boccacino.
