I can't say I enjoyed this book, but I am glad I read it.

Crews is critiqued for being masculine to a fault, or not creating sympathetic characters. I don't think either of these are apt criticisms, because this book has it's share of sympathetic characters, many of whom are women.

I think the dichotomy between people who do and do not like this book comes down to what the reader is looking for. This book is pitch-black, and very unnerving. I for one enjoyed it, but take my opinion with a big grain of salt.
