I received an ARC from NetGalley. Set in Cascade, Massachusetts in 1935, Cascade is the story of Desdemona Hart Spaulding. Dez is an aspiring artist but gives up her dream to marry Asa Spaulding to save her father's beloved theater. Her father passes away soon after the marriage and Dez struggles in her marriage of convenience.

The Massachusetts Water Authority announces that the town of Cascade is one of two town being considered to be demolished and flooded for a reservoir to hold water for Boston. During this time, Jacob Solomon arrives into town. Jacob and Dez are kindred spirits in their passion for art. When a Water man if found dead, suspicions are quickly cast upon Jacob. Jacob is a Jew and the town's mob mentality soon turns on Jacob.

The story starts out slowly but I soon couldn't put down this story. I loved the historical aspect of this story.
