Ryan "Fang" Haverty is a fighter pilot. Cassandra Whitman is the waitress at the steakhouse where he and his friends and fellow pilots have dinner. Deciding to cut loose for once, she accepts his offer to take her away from the drudgery of her life, if only for an evening. Or a weekend...

They enjoy several scorching hot days, and find that they both have an appetite for roleplaying. While Cass finds it a fun and exciting departure from her usual reserved ways, Ryan recalls how his penchant for "kink" ruined a past relationship. He doesn't want to repeat that demoralizing time, ever.

Ryan's quite the tormented hero, and Cass is a good, bold foil to him. They are both smart, straight shooting people, and it was easy to see how they'd be so well matched. It does take a heroine as strong as Cass to bring Ryan out of the mire of his past.

I really enjoyed Double Down, and am eagerly looking forward to Inside Bet and Hold 'Em--the stories of Ryan's best friends, Jon and Leah.
