Another must-read by Roald Dahl is “The Twits”. This story starts with two twits, Mr. Twit and Mrs. Twit. Mr. Twit has a bushy long beard and mustache. Mrs. Twit is a short chubby lady that uses a cane. The Twits don’t ever bathe, they are mean and nasty, and they play horrible tricks on each other. The only thing they like is bird pie. They make the muggle wumps (their pet monkeys) stand on their heads all day. The muggle wumps have had enough of this. Every day they see Mr. Twit get his ladder and paint the whole roosting tree with sticky glue. Once you touch it you can never get out of it! So when the birds come to roost they get stuck. The muggle wumps try to warn the birds about the sticky glue, but the birds can’t understand monkey language! One day a very unusual bird called the roly poly bird comes to roost. The roly poly bird has travelled so far and wide that it knows all animal languages and understands the muggle wumps warning. Pretty soon the roly poly bird warns the other birds about the sticky glue. Mr. Twit is surprised that there are no more birds for his pie! The monkeys, the roly poly bird, and all the other birds form a plan to turn the Twits upside down for a change! They glue everything in the house to the ceiling and paint the walls and the floors with stick glue. Mr. and Mrs. Twit return to their house and notice this upside down change and they decide that everything would be right side up if they stood on their heads and guess what? They get stuck to the sticky glue on the floor and they slowly shrink into themselves until nothing is left, except for their clothes. The moral is don’t be mean or revenge is sweet.
