Cute little satire of four "old fashioned" children who try to become orphans by suggesting their disagreeable parents take a very dangerous sea voyage. The author clearly had a lot of fun with this one, and it is a great almost Pinkwater-style lampooning of old middle grade classics such as Secret Garden and Pollyanna. The lexile level is high but there is an dictionary in the back for the harder words (defined in a humorous Lemony Snickett sort of way).
I wish this book had been longer though, it was over all too quickly.
