The story of lovesick Dominican uber omega nerd Oscar and his cursed family. Will school you on the recent history of the DR. Tragic, funny, loveable, despicable, and like most of the recent Pulitzer winning novels I've read, eminently readable. I am not Dominican, but there are hispanic elements that definitely resonate with me. Not recommended for young kids due to drug use, sex, and descriptions of Trujillo's brutal regime.
