This book was much darker and more gruesome then your average UF. It was also much lighter on the romance than I would have expected but it worked. Elise has a sad morbid past like most UF heroines but lacks the snark that the cookie cutter protagonist use to cope with life. The story ends and there is still a lot of mystery surrounding Elise. I want to read on just to solve the puzzle. The world building is not great. I wish there were a few more details and explanations but I never felt completely confused as to what was happening. The one problem I did have was Betsy & Anthony. They jumped into their roles a too easily at the end. Overall it was an enjoyable read. This is the first free Amazon Kindle book I don't regret downloading. I will definitely read the next one but I need something a little lighter in between.
