I'm not known to read Nicholas Sparks, purely for the fact that I tend to enjoy his books-turned-movies and do not want to compare them. But, having read this, I'm both looking forward to and dreading seeing the movie.
Nicholas Sparks' writing style can leave a little bit to be desired, but overall the writing isn't bad. The plot and characters, however, could be fixed up. I found his characters to be dry - other than Logan and Ben, whom I adored - and not very realistic. They would be seething angry and screaming at eachother on one page, then having sex on the other. The way the book ended was also a bother, due to the entire book inching slowly towards the end. Once I reached the last couple of chapters, though, the pace of the ending was very fast compared to what it was before, and I found it ended too quick and left me with far too many questions. Sparks could have, probably, spent a little more time with his ending and worked out more on the relationships of his characters.
Overall, though, I did enjoy the book. But maybe that's just me, because I haven't yet found more than 2 books that I didn't enjoy.
