Sad, lots of angst but a good story with lots of food for thought. The author's sensitivity and understanding of human feelings and frailties really came through. The only thing keeping me from giving this 4 stars was the unrelenting seriousness of the plot. Admittedly, though, it had a lot of what goes on in real life, whether or not we like to openly acknowledge it. It showed the imperfections of life but also the need to go forward. This was my first book of Elin Hilderbrand's...I'll read another but need a break with something lighter first. I recommend this book but keep the Kleenex handy.
