Read in November, 2008, read count: once

Like so many I had read Sebold's other novels and really enjoyed them and found her writing somewhat poetic. It came as a huge disappointment that this book was not in the same league as her others, in fact I have read more enjoyable things written in the Sun newspaper. As with any book I feel that sometimes you just have to read the whole thing and reflect on it for the enjoyment to be fully appreciated. I regret doing that with this book as the ending was pathetic. I put the book down wondering what the point of reading it had been. The ending shocked me as I can not believe just how awful it was.

If you have any other books available to read just now I would suggest putting this book down and reading one of them. If you REALLY feel you need to read this book, read with caution, it really does not get any better the further you get into it. Do not say you were not warned.

Lise I wish I had read this review a few days ago. What a horrible book. I really need to read something else quickly to get this awful book out of my head.
