What a deliciously fun read! This novella takes you on ride through the ethics of terminal illness and disability, the politics of drug control, for profit medical, and questions of higher consciousness. It leaves the reader asking themselves a number of questions about a better way to live and where we've come. I've seen some who have an issue with the way it doesn't tie up loose ends, instead leaving you to think on what the man decides. I personally appreciate this. Sixty pages is far to small to take that on. The character development doesn't allow for it. If Ms. Stein had chosen to make that decision for us it would have felt forced, leaving Charles a flat and two dimensional husk and taken heavily from the overall. No, I rather appreciate this doesn't tie a nice, neat bow around what are some rather untidy subjects. Writing should make one think. It should leave them with more then with what they started. To that end, this does a wonderful job and I highly recommend it. There are a few typos and these didn't bother me as they normally would as the story is very solidly written. It is also free to download on Amazon right now. And, anyone who has ever perused free digital literature knows that typos come with the territory. When a work is converted digitally for free, whether by a new author trying to get their name out there or a classic open source work, mistakes happen. There is rarely an editing team reading back through. It just isn't cost effective. The typos in this work are small, easily discerned, and do nothing to take away from the composition.
