Lovely rendering of the Indian classic the Mahabharata but from the unique perspective of one of the female players--Draupadi or Panchaali, as she is also called -- who together with her twin brother Dhristadyumna are destined to fulfill their father's desire for revenge against his sworn brother, Drona. Such 'unexpected perspective' re-tellings of old stories (Wolf Hall is another example) seem to be all the rage these days, but I must confess that this is a very entertaining, easy-to-read, introduction to reading the actual Mahabharata. Recommended for young readers as well (11+) given all the classic stories, mythologies, adventure and tales that keep the pages turning.
