Having read every Redwall novel available at my library, naturally I was more than eager to read Martin the Warrior.

I knew it had to be different from the other Redwall books since it was about THE Martin of Redwall. It surpassed all my expectations. It had everything I wanted in a fantasy novel. Hilarious and lovable characters, high scale traveling, heroic deeds, deliciously described food (oh yeah!), a nasty group of villains, a rebel group fighting for justice, romance, danger, swords (or ladles), and that needed bitter taste of tragedy.

For followers of Redwall, Martin of Redwall is incredibly satisfying. They will discover more of the origins of this legendary and mysterious hero. For new readers, this book would be an excellent introduction to the Redwall universe.
