This wasn't the best of novels in any case but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless. I don't have any great complaints about the book because you can't expect too much by these 'adaptations' or 'tributes' to Austen or indeed any other classic author. Grange ran through the classic P&P storyline without any real alteration or addition to the knowledge a fan would of already had, which was disappointing. She seemed not to take any real liberties about Darcy's character or about the relationships he had had with others, that weren't alighted upon in P&P. He proved quite a two-dimensional character as well, not having a fraction of the feeling that Elizabeth showed or even expressed internally. If they were true diary entries, they scarcely said anything about him, but rather gave superficial accounts of the preceding events and that was all. He seemed inconstant and far less agreeable than the Darcy portrayed in Austen's work.

That said, It was still a good read for a rainy day. I found myself smiling, despite myself, at Elizabeth's acceptance, and the small preview into their married life was a guilty pleasure, however chimerical it may have been.
