I read this book because the New York Times Book Review reviewed in on the front page of the Review. The Reviewer loved it. I didn't love it - but I liked it a lot. The plot was okay, but I thought the writing was beautiful, controlled, subtle and precise. The story is divided into three parts - before the "big event", the coping of a teenage boy with the "big event" and his understanding and acceptance of the "big event" in his later years as an adult in his later life.
I have never read a Richard Frost book before, but I will read some of his other books. The author is coming to Chicago this November and I plan to attend his lecture to find out more about the "back story" to the novel. Definitely worth a read.
