it was amazing
bookshelves: 5-star-books, children-s, read-with-son
Read from August 07 to 26, 2012

This is a very nice story that any young child will enjoy. Baylard is a sweet bear, trying to get used to living in the human world. The way his feelings are explored and brought to life is very clever. The positives of being adopted are covered really well and this book could be read with children 'in care' to help them understand the situation a little better. It does only cover one adoption scenario so will not be helpful in every situation but where suitable it would be a very good aid to explanations about that child's reality.
The language is simple and the illustrations are good.
I began reading this with my son but he is too young to appreciate it yet and lost interest after the first chapter (a case of me being a little to ambitious in book choice).
I would recommend this for any child aged around 5 and for adopted children with discretion as it needs to fit their circumstances.
Excellent book for its intended market.
