it was amazing
bookshelves: classics, all-time-favorites, france
Read in September, 2009

I had only read an abridged version as a child and am really happy I decided to read the full version. An incredible story of revenge and love. The rich detail and fantastic characters make the story flow so easily.I now need to find a definitive film version. All the Hollywood versions are about 120 minutes long and cannot do this book justice. This story deserves at least a mini-series , if not a full season show.I would definitely recommend this version to anyone who wants to get lost in another time and place. This was the perfect read for my late summer week off from work.

Deodand I really love this book and hate to see it put to film but I thought the 2002 version with Jim Caviezel was a pretty close adaptation.

I actually ordered a 6 hour mini-series made in France with Gerard Depardieu. Should be here any day now.

Deodand Not sure I can imagine Depardieu as Dantes. They should be able to cover plenty of ground, though.
