Grant Petersen, owner of Rivendell Bicycle Works makes and rides bikes. With several decades of experience (he’s been riding since 1970), he aims with this book to make bicycling more accessible and enjoyable for the average rider (with the caveat that these are his opinions based on that experience and mileage – others’ experience and opinions – may differ). Petersen presents very readable and down-to-earth advice in short chapters that will not tax the average cyclist or reader’s attention span (you’ll have more time to ride your bike, if that’s what you feel like doing). Cyclists are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes, buy comfortable bikes and seats, ride as much or as little as they feel like and not to feel like they have to buy into the latest gadgets and/or bikes used by racing fanatics in the racing circuit. Practical and concise.
