Okay, so no lie, after reading the summary, I went into this little book thinking things like:

"LOL that cover"

"This sounds utterly absurd."

"This is going to be hilarious."

But you know what? It surprised me. I had an absolute ball reading this book.

Is it well written? Nah, not really.

Does it have some holes? Yep, it does.

Are the sex scenes silly? Yep, sure are.

Did the author butcher vampire myth? Yep, that too.

BUT! This book has what few romance novels have. A plot. A fun one, too. It's creative, it's interesting, and it's kind of exciting. I grinned a lot.

I also like the characters, especially the protagonists. I love Vlad (yes, that would be Vlad Tepes, Prince of Wallachia, The Impaler, THE Dracula). He's arrogant and bad ass and just plain awesome. And I like Leila, too. She's funny and strong and a bad ass in her own right. Together, they are somehow hot, sweet, and funny.

Really, the only real issue I had was the meh epilogue. I get what the author was doing - setting up for the next book (yay!) - but it wasn't really that great. I was a little disappointed.

But all in all, this was really fun. A definite surprise. I'll definitely be reading the next book and crossing my fingers that it turns into more than a 2 book series. :)
