really liked it
bookshelves: conflict
Recommended for: those who like being under the water
Read in November, 2006

the rad part about this book :

1written by formers kriegsmariner
2about the navy and navy men. the battle they fought. not any of the jacked up politics of berlin

a brief intro of wwi , secret happenings , slow build up and wild early successes of wwii.

several events in this book mesh w/ those in the dam busters. the year steel was short for subs the dam busters had royaled the german steel factory water supply. planes getting lost over the channel due to improved AA on the u-boats (yes back in the day they spent quite a bit of time on the surface)

a maddening collection of and race to science and techonology. destroyers looking to outwit the wolves, the wolves looking to keep hidden.

never knew it. those dirty bastards even sunk stuff in the caribbean and off the east coast.
