Only read (past tense) Soldiers Three

Completely amazing. A collection of shorts. Most stories focus on three or one of three soldiers in the majesty's service in india all 1800s. three very different folk, an irishman, a londoner, and a fellow from yorkshire (as memory serves). the irishman is by far the best of the bunch! one of those fellows who has seen it all and done it all and only the craziest things happen to him. tales of the lads and their favorite ways to extinguish the enemy, chasing after the colonel's wife, stealing dogs, foiling murders, and so on. the finale to the collection doesn't involve any of our friends , but rather a young subaltern. damn near one of the most touching stories i've read in quite some time.
