This is one of the strangest short story collections I have read. Probably like the rest of his stories, his main characters are not sympathetic. Endings are very satisfying if not bizarre. I have read the British version, which has a different cover. One story is particularly memorable: A man is obsessed with a betting competition in which if they win they get his car, if they lose they must give him one of their fingers. There is also the one about the brain that survives death, only to find something worse. You will not stop once you start.
