I enjoyed this more than The Stars, Like Dust. The plot in #2 made more sense and didn't require the kind of deus ex machina that #1 seemed to. The characters are rather thinly drawn, but that is typical for Asimov. I liked the point of view of the Townman the best.

It is fascinating to read these Golden Age Sci-fi works. The social norms are right out of the 40s (especially the role of women). And the kind of advancements that weren't imagined (digital photography for example) can be amusing.
