So far my least favorite of the serious, though pretty intense and suspenseful nonetheless. I felt like this book had waaaay too much going on that it was kinda hard to keep up with. Over the food crisis for now, conflicts arise from within and out. Orsay, one of the newest members of Perdido Beach's community uses her powers of seeing into others dreams to form a following of children that revere her as a prophet. Meanwhile Zil and the Human Crew spread chaos and burn most of Perdido Beach to the ground to get control, while Cain and the starving kids of Coates Academy go off in search of a island reported to house of the mansion of 2 movie stars. Sam, the defacto leader of the FAYZ continues a downward spiral of depression, guilt, and frustration... he takes a more violent stance against the chaotic forces that threaten the FAYZ. It would seem that'd be easier for him to give up his mantle, but when disaster strikes and he's nowhere to be found... the kids of the FAYZ learn how important Sam is. But can he stop the momentum of the Human Crew or the brainwashed kids following the Prophet Orsay?
