I can't begin to express the disappointment I felt from reading this book and having to write this review. I love Jack Reacher. The Killing Floor stands as my all time favorite series opener. And this has been a great series, but I have a number of issues with Mr. Child right now.
A couple of notes first. If you have never read a Jack Reacher novel, don't start here. Start from the beginning and stop at 61 hours. There are a couple of kernels of decent ideas in this book, but overall it was very slow and boring and routine.
My first problem is that 61 hours was such a great book with a great cliffhanger and Child never resolved it. He just continued to drop another book in the series every year. I think that's a slap in the face to fans.
Then, he sells out and sells the movie rights for Jack Reacher to Tom Cruise. You can't read any of these books and not realize that Tom Cruise is nothing like Jack Reacher. It's just another disappointment in what use to be a premier mystery series.
