Fascinating and readable, a great combination. I read this mostly to inform my professional life as a nursing/midwifery/lactation textbook editor, but found it unexpectedly informative and inspiring to read as someone who hopes to have children, and even just as someone who *knows* people who have gone through the conception and childbirthing process. Inspiring as in instilling an even greater desire to know more about the history of gynecology, obstetrics, midwifery, and the American culture of childbirth.
