I heard the author speak at the Boston Book Festival, and was intrigued by the Victorian concept of discerning symbolic meanings of flowers. This book’s protagonist, Victoria, is one angry young woman after a difficult childhood in the foster care system. She is complex and flawed, as are most of the other characters.
